Beloved Frasier star John Mahoney, who played classic sitcom's cantankerous father, dies at 77 in Chicago hospice facility

John Mahoney, the veteran performer best know for playing the peevish father on the 90s NBC hit Frasier, has kicked the bucket at 77 on Sunday.

Mahoney's long-term supervisor, Paul Martino, said Monday that Mahoney kicked the bucket in Chicago after a concise hospitalization.

The reason for death was not instantly reported.

The British-conceived on-screen character featured as Martin Crane nearby his on-screen children Kelsey Grammer, who played the main Frasier, and David Hyde Pierce, who played Niles, in the sitcom for an incredible 11 seasons, from 1993 to 2004.
